Elena González Blázquez

Hi! I am Elena. I have always had interest for the stories about different cultures and unknown places. This is why I studied Journalism and Audio-visual Communication as well as trying to travel and learn at the same time.

 

I was born in a small city of Spain, Ávila, and I started to move to be more independent when I turned 18 years old. At 20 years old, as I wanted to have international experience, I chose Rome for my Erasmus. I visited many special places, I met amazing people, I learned Italian and, the most important, I learned about myself. I came back to Spain and I took a Fashion and Social Media course at the same time I studied my degree. I have always thought that it is very important to have work experience. That is the reason I made some internships while I was studying.

My internships taught me how to be proactive and resolute. I have worked as a Writer on different websites and on a travel blog, I have also worked as a Community manager, I have been responsible for the administration of a blog as well as updating content. When I was working at the Spanish magazine “AR, la Revista de Ana Rosa” I realized that I needed to learn English. The adventure bug had bitten me; and I thought that the best way to improve my English, learn more about journalism and travel at the same time was to move to New York. So I did it. When I moved back to Spain, I decided to improve my skills in graphic design, because I love photography and art and I did not have the opportunity to go into this field in depth. Therefore, I started a Postgrad of Graphic Design. 

 

After my postgrad, I had the chance to move to Brussels and work as a Community manager in the communication department of a company called Bright Expats. It was a great experience to evolve in a very small team because I learned to be very independent and to take initiatives, and and I was able to develop my English in a professional area.

 

Right now you can find me in Brussels, but who knows where I will be tomorrow. I still have a weakness for writing: I enjoy learning about different cultures and people and most of all I love to tell their stories. I can work in a team or by my own, I am adaptable and positive, and that can help you in any place.
